It isn't just Dunedin or Waiouru having all the fun.
Families flocked to the summit of Rimutaka Hill Rd on Saturday morning after an overnight and early morning hit of snow.
Most snowlovers appeared to be from the Wellington side, with some leaving before New Zealand Transport Agency had officially opened the road at 10am.
The novelty of around 3cm of snow caused a minor parking snarl at the summit, with families arriving with ski gloves, woolly hats, and a readiness to hurl a snowball or three.
The Naughton family travelled for nearly an hour from Churton Park to give their children the snow experience.
