Work on Rimutaka Hill Rd is continuing, with the present upgrade expected to take until the end of August.
Yesterday NZTA was advising drivers to expect delays due to multiple stop/go signs on the hill.
NZTA said contractors were strengthening retaining walls and installing roadside barriers, improving signs and resurfacing some sections of the road, as well as installing 23km of rumble strips.
Work on a 150-metre section of the road would be continuing next year once a solution had been identified, NZTA said.
