An investigation into a suspected motorcycle crash on Rimutaka Hill Rd on Saturday afternoon came to nothing. Two police cars, fire crews from Featherston and Upper Hutt, and an ambulance congregated at the summit after searching the Wairarapa side for the mystery crash.
The Featherston fire brigade investigated an oil spill and a guard rail dent, but nothing was found.
A spokesperson from Fire communications told the Times-Age it appeared the motorcyclist had made his own way from the scene.
