Rhemus is top of Ram flock

Outstanding loose forward Rhemus Namana was the big winner when the Rams JAB rugby club held their end-of-season awards functions last week.

Namana, who captained Rams Black to a last-gasp 32-29 win over Pioneer in the grand final of the Wairarapa-Bush under-13 competition, took away the Syd Bubb Trophy for best sportsman and the Ewen Windleborn Cup for best all-round player.

Club trophy winners were:

MRFC Shield for most points scored in under-6 and under-8 age groups: Carlos McRae (54 points).

J and L Cummings trophy for top try scorer in under-9 to under-13 age groups: Liam Montgomery (25 tries).

Bethall Cup for highest aggregate points in under-9 to under-13 age groups: Rams Red under-13s (452 points).

Hintz Family Trophy hard luck award: Lauren Balsillie.

Long service award: Chad Coley.

Bethall Shield for team sportsmanship: Ram White under-13.

Football Box for best all-round team: Rams Black under-10.

McLean Trophy for runner-up best all-round team: Rams Black under-13.

Buchanan Trophy for best achiever: Kieran Andrews-Paul.

Syd Bubb Trophy for best sportsman: Rhemus Namana.

Ewen Windleborn Cup for best all-round player: Rhemus Namana.
