It will be all systems go for Wairarapa United when they meet fellow Central League side Wellington United in a pre-season match at Howard Booth Park, Carterton, on Saturday.
It will be the second time the two teams have clashed within the past month and Wairarapa United coach Phil Keinzley is demanding a much-improved effort from the first encounter when Wellington United hung on to win 3-2 after leading 3-0 at halftime. And judging from what he has seen in training sessions, he is confident his players will give him what he wants.
"There is still plenty of work to do before we are at where we need to be but we do seem to be moving in the right direction, the intensity has lifted and everybody is working hard," Keinzley said. "It's only a friendly but we need to play well, and there will be no excuses if we don't."
Saturday's game, which kicks off at 1pm, will give supporters their first look at three of the new names in the Wairarapa squad, Spaniard George Jermy and Chileans Jorge de la Torre and Jonatan Almendra.
