Retro-style bicycles stylish but not safe

Retro-style bicycles were potentially unsafe, the Commerce Commission said yesterday when calling for their voluntary recall.

The commission is writing to bicycle importers and distributors throughout New Zealand seeking the voluntary recall and is investigating two retailers for allegedly selling bicycles which contravene safety standards. The bicycles are sold under a variety of names including "retro", "chopper", "cruiser", and "lowrider".
