Six Mongrel Mob members jailed last year after an intra-gang shootout at their Wairoa gang headquarters will go to retrial after their convictions for participating in an organised criminal group were quashed.
The Court of Appeal has ordered the retrial for six men convicted in the High Court at Wellington last November.
Rangi Tamati, 50, Claude Edwards, 43, Alex Tamati, 54, Ronald Rigby, 49, Harry Minhinnick, 23, and Sovite Su'a, 39, were jailed for terms ranging from six years and three months to three years for participating in an organised criminal group.
Rangi Tamati lost his appeal against his conviction for attempting to pervert the course of justice.
He was jailed on that conviction for a further year and three months.
