Retirement Commissioner Diana Crossan believes the recession and a campaign featuring real New Zealanders, not actors, are behind the continuing increase in people using Sorted resources.
The independent money guide, which includes a website and phone lines run by the Retirement Commission, has been used by 1.2 million New Zealanders - nearly 30 per cent of the population.
"It seems that living with financial uncertainty is prompting people to review their own position and consider better planning for their financial futures," Ms Crossan said.
Sorted is on the web at www.sorted.org.nz or phone 0800 767 866.
