Two new appointments have been made at Rabobank Group, following the decision of managing director Bev Walters to retire at the end of this year. He will be replaced by Bruce Dick who will become director of retail banking with responsibility for rural lending here and in Australia. Ab Gillhaus will become director of corporate clients, responsible for corporate banking and finance within the group. Mr Walters will continue his involvement with the group as a non-executive director of Primary Industry Bank of Australia Ltd and Rabo Australia Ltd.
* Auckland chartered accountants, Margaret Boyd-Bell and Graeme McDonald have become fellows of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Margaret Boyd-Bell is a contract accountant and a member of the Auckland public practice committee. She is the only chartered accountant appointed to the Legal Services Board. Graeme McDonald, an insolvency specialist, is a partner with McDonald Vague & Partners. He is the chairman of Insol New Zealand, a director of its international council, and a member of the Auckland public practice committee. Sarah Taylor, finance manager sales with Television NZ, has become the first member of the Accounting Technicians College to be elected to the institute's council. Two other Auckland representatives, Leicester Gouwland and Martin Bailey, have also been elected to the council.
* Justin Phillips is the new executive assistant manager at Novotel Auckland, replacing Karen Coote who has become general manager of Mercure Melbourne. Mr Phillips has been in the industry for 13 years with Accor Asia Pacific in Auckland, Queenstown and Indonesia.
* The national sales manager of Computer Associates International, Richard Collins, has been promoted to managing director New Zealand. He replaces Peter Earlam who has taken up a regional role heading the company's newly-formed field services group for Australia and New Zealand. Before joining Computer Associates Mr Collins held various roles with Oracle New Zealand Ltd.
* Matthew Christie has joined Novell New Zealand Ltd in Wellington as business development manager. He has an IT sales and marketing background and was a recruitment consultant with Candle IT and T Recruitment. Ross Johnson has joined the company as a consultant. He was working in network engineering and planning with Inland Revenue.
* Zeacom, formerly Voice Technology Ltd, has employed Mike Engle as marketing manager. He has been in services marketing in high-tech industries here and overseas, recently with Netway. He will be responsible for providing support locally and offshore for the company's core products, and for new product releases, with particular emphasis on international channel management.
* Nick Wells is to become a partner in Russell McVeagh's Wellington office. He has been with the firm since 1995 and before that worked as a lawyer in a multinational corporate.
* Jean-Claude Biosa is joining Manukau Consultants Ltd as information systems manager. Mr Biosa comes from an electrical-mechanical, electronics technology and IT background and has worked with Thomson-CSF and Woodward Clyde.
* Josephine Gallagher is the new communications manager for the National Heart Foundation. She spent 10 years in newspaper journalism and has worked in corporate communications with Watercare Services.
