The Associate Health Minister is urging retailers to stop selling synthetic drugs causing harm across the country.
Some of the ingredients of synthetic drug K2 have been banned.
However these ingredients have been replaced with different chemicals and it is still being sold under the same name.
Peter Dunne says he is asked for an urgent investigation into what is in the drug and what action needs to be taken.
"The advice I've received is that what's happening at the moment is almost certainly selling products that are not legal to sell, and therefore the retailers are actually potentially committing an offence."
