Exciting news for Central Auckland retail: accessories brand Tous will open a boutique in November. The Catalonia-based brand offers jewellery, handbags and watches, all made in Spain. This will be the first Australasian store for the luxury brand, which has more than 400 stores in 45 countries. Thereare also plans for New Zealand stores in Wellington and Christchurch. The Auckland store will open in November in the Tower Building at 45 Queen St, near other brands also opening stores this year including Prada, Dior and Swarovski.

Sportswear continues its trickle upward into high fashion, with Chanel's sneakers the epitome of the trend. Made from chevron, woven and boucle tweeds, suede and laminated, crackled or iridescent leather, the luxe sneakers also feature a thick rubber sole. They're available from the Chanel Sydney boutique. Ponsonby retail is booming, with several new stores opening on the strip (read about new multi-brand store The Shelter here). Another recent addition is a boutique from Jane Daniels, in the space formerly occupied by Redcurrent. The designer's fourth store, after Parnell, Wellington and Christchurch, the Ponsonby boutique has an industrial-style fit-out showcasing her latest spring/summer collection.
