Without a permanent truck to pick up donated goods, Wairarapa Resource Centre has been rescued by Cross Country Rentals.
Centre co-ordinator/manager Trudie Jones said they were desperate for a truck to pick goods up. Normally they borrow a truck from someone, but this wasn't always possible.
The local rental truckagency offered them the perfect deal so they could keep picking up and dropping off donated goods, Mrs Jones said.
"We borrowed a truck for a year ... it's good for us to have a permanent truck on Thursdays so we can enlarge our business and reach more people in our community. It will allow us to get out into the community."
It was a win-win situation for both businesses, she said.
"We can help people further their employment and Cross Country Rentals will be seen around town. We are helping each other."
If the truck is out, they provide the centre with a commercial van to get the job done. "He will always have a vehicle for us."
Cross Country Rentals manager Peter Allan said the centre helped the community by providing both a furniture and clothing recycling centre along with job training for local people looking for work, so they wanted to help out in some way.
