Residents woken by truck explosion

Residents of Halcombe, near Feilding, were awoken when a large truck exploded and burst into flames early today.

"The truck was burnt out outside the owner's house at about 4am," Feilding police Sergeant Terry Gibbons said.

The fire, which was quickly extinguished by emergency services, was being treated as arson, he said.

CIB are presently examining the scene.
