A dog trapped down a 3m hole on a construction site was rescued but ran away.
A cocker spaniel cross was rescued from a construction site in Clover Park, South Auckland, after it fell in a hole.
Northern fire communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said rescue crew initially thought the dog was a stray but when rescued found the cocker spaniel had a lead and collar.
"The dog attempted to bite a firefighter and ran away," he said.
The name of the dog remains unknown.
