KEY POINTS:
The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra is celebrating a $90,000 "rescue package" to plug a funding gap.
Auckland City Council's arts, culture and recreation committee is providing the money on top of the $500,000 it gives annually.
The orchestra has been left with a gap because of delays to the introduction of the Auckland Regional Amenities Funding Act.
The council will also give $90,000 to New Zealand Opera, which usually gets $75,000 a year. The extra will allow both bodies to continue operating until the regional amenities funding becomes available.
