Moves to institute resale royalty payments to artists look set to be shelved by the Government.
Initiated by former Labour Cabinet Minister Judith Tizard, the Copyright Amendment Bill sought to introduce mandatory resale rights so artists would receive royalty payments when their work was on-sold.
The legislation now looks set to be cast aside after a select committee has recommended against it becoming law.
Arts Culture and Heritage Minister Chris Finlayson is indicating he will withdraw the bill when it is brought back to Parliament.
