Police could be required to report all use of Tasers to the Independent Police Conduct Authority.
IPCA head Justice Goddard made the suggestion while giving evidence to Parliament's Law and Order Select Committee today.
She says currently police do not have to inform the authority when Tasers are used and she believes the issue could be usefully discussed in order to improve monitoring of the weapon's use.
"The Taser is one of a number of weapons available to police and it's how it is deployed that matters to my organisation."
Justice Goddard says the move would require an agreement to be reached with police as the IPCA does not have the power to demand Taser information.
