KEY POINTS:
The lawyer for the man charged with murdering a teenage tagger in Auckland today asked a court for a psychiatric assessment of his client.
Bruce William Emery, 50, is accused of fatally stabbing 15-year-old Pihema Clifford Cameron in Manurewa, on Saturday night.
The stabbing allegedly occurred during an argument that arose after Pihema was about to tag a fence on a property and was chased.
Emery showed no emotion when he appeared in the dock at Manukau District Court this morning. He was wearing glasses, a white shirt, tie and black pants.
His lawyer applied for a psychiatric report under the Mentally Impaired Persons Act.
Judge David Harvey remanded Emery in custody by consent until February 15.
