Christchurch residents whose homes were damaged in the 5.3 magnitude April 16 aftershock have been given more time to make claims to the Earthquake Commission, which is still receiving 1300 claims a day.
The commission yesterday classified the aftershock as a "new event".
A commission spokesman said the move was intended to give home owners three months in which to register claims for resulting damage.
