A report of a person carrying a rifle in the Wellington suburb of Miramar has sparked an armed police callout.
Police were called to Park Road just after 2pm to reports that a group of three, one believed to be carrying a rifle, were in the area, police central communications acting shift commander Mark Oliver told NZPA.
Police were armed as a precaution, he said.
They had been unable to locate anyone but were still in the area, Mr Oliver said.
