The New Zealand embassy in Manila is following up on reports a New Zealand man has been arrested in the Philippines on child rape and human trafficking charges.
Local newspapers are reporting a 51-year-old, believed to be from Timaru, is accused of raping two Visayan girls from Kidapawan City.
The director of the Kidapawan City police says the man was arrested in Davao City after several days of surveillance.
Police have also reportedly recovered a mobile phone containing nude photos of the two girls, aged 12 and 13 years.
