KEY POINTS:
A report into allegations of bullying and sexual assaults at Hutt Valley High School has been released.
The Education Ministry has been investigating claims a Year 9 boy's pants were pulled down and he was assaulted with a sharp object.
Other alleged incidents in the report include attempts to push a variety of objects, such as cell phones and calculators, into the buttock area of students who were still wearing clothes.
The report says the alleged assaults were carried out by a group of six students calling themselves the "Killer Coconut Krew."
Police have referred five students to the Family Court and a sixth to the Youth Court.
The report concludes Hutt Valley High School's Board of Trustees is taking the matter seriously and can deliver on plans to ensure the safety of students.
Education Minister Chris Carter has asked the Education Review Office to undertake a special review of the school to provide an independent assurance on the level of safety.
