Thousands of New Zealand soldiers were housed at Featherston Camp before being shipped off to fight for King and country in Europe.
They were accommodated in barracks and slept on wooden-slatted beds just like this one.
Rimu timber for the bed came from the demolition of a stage at Masterton Town Hall.
Henley Men's Shed has been prominent in the centenary celebrations, in producing hundreds of white crosses for the Fields of Remembrance project, through to introducing school children to WWI battlefields, complete with trench mortars, and teaching them how to make periscopes and communicate by semaphore.
