Repairs are due to begin this morning on the stricken Russian fishing ship Sparta, off Antarctica.
A Korean ship Araon has been at the Sparta's side for the past 24 hours, transferring 100 tonnes of fuel off it.
Rescue Coordination Centre spokesman Geoff Lunt says once the damaged part of Sparta's hull is exposed, repairs can be carried out.
He says the crews of the two ships will weld plates onto the inside and outside of the hull.
Mr Lunt says weather conditions are calm and there's been no sign of any fuel leaking out.
