The cost of the oil cleanup from the Rena disaster has hit $19.5 million.
Transport minister Steven Joyce has just given an update in Tauranga, saying he expects the cost, and the salvage operation, to continue for some months.
Mr Joyce is also reminding locals the Rena could yet break up.
