Two Christchurch men arrested during a police investigation into a so-called white-collar drug ring were remanded to Auckland in Christchurch District Court today.
Beneficiary Wayne Jeffery Beard, 35, is charged with possessing ecstasy for supply and conspiring to supply the drug. He was remanded on continued bail to Auckland District Court for a depositions hearing on February 20.
His alleged co-offender, a 50-year-old business entrepreneur who faces similar charges and has interim name suppression, was remanded to the same date.
Among those convicted in connection with the drugs ring were Auckland property developer David Henderson and media celebrity and former All Black Marc Ellis.
Henderson pleaded guilty to attempting to buy cocaine and was given a suspended sentence. Ellis was fined $300 plus costs of $130 after admitting he bought ecstasy.
Police have yet to interview former rugby league star Brent Todd over his alleged connection to the ring.
Todd, who lives in Australia, has denied any involvement.
