Relocation planned for skinks

Transit and the Department of Conservation plan to relocate two lizard populations found in Hamilton.

The native copper skink and the rainbow skink, introduced from Australia, were found on Transit-owned land adjacent to Norton Rd and Avalon Drive.

Native lizard species are legally protected and may not be captured, collected or deliberately disturbed without a DoC permit.
