After they disappeared during a day out with their parents an 8-year-old boy and his 12-year-old sister have been found.
Sergeant Rhys Smith said the children stormed off after getting into an argument with their mother and father in Onehunga about 1.15pm.
CCTV footage showed them walking down Onehunga Mall but their whereabouts could not be ascertained after that.
Smith received a call at 11.20pm letting him know that the children had turned up at their grandparents' house in Manukau.
After fearing the children could spend the night out in the cold, Smith said it was a "huge relief".
