Rekindle, a waste diversion social enterprise best known for its work with earthquake-damaged buildings, is opening two exhibitions in Auckland.
Juliet Arnott initially started Rekindle to salvage timber from red zone residential demolition in Christchurch and turn it into furniture, interiors, sculpture and jewelery.
"Primarily when establishing Rekindle, I was motivated by proving that this material could look beautiful and be functional in a new use, and to show that to the world," Rekindle founder Juliet Arnott explained in a recent video for Yealands.
"I'd like every community in New Zealand to find value in the wood that's going to waste and to turn that into therapeutic and creative opportunities."
The enterprise is now expanding to other materials and locations.
