Liam James Reid has been committed for trial for the murder of 20-year-old Emma Agnew after a four-day depositions hearing in Christchurch District Court.
Reid, 35, will stand trial for the murder of the deaf woman, whose body was found near Spencer Park, north of Christchurch, about 11 days after the Crown says she was killed.
John O'Hara and Nick Atkins, Justices of the Peace, remanded him in custody to a High Court pre-trial conference on May 9, when a trial date would be set.
The Crown called evidence from almost 30 witnesses during the preliminary hearing.
