There has been a call for women's refuges in the Waikato to fax their worst cases of abuse to parliament.
This follows an incident in which the Women's Refuge head, Merepeka Raukawa-Tait, was told to 'pull her head in' when she spoke out on Maori domestic violence.
Maori Women's Refuge Waikato co-ordinator Ruahine Albert has faxed 14 refuges in the Waikato calling on them to fax details of their worst abuse case to the Maori Affairs Minister.
She is angry at the attempt to play down Maori abuse and is challenging Parekura Horomia to address the issues.
