KEY POINTS:
Four Dunedin Fisher & Paykel factory workers about to be made redundant scooped the $1m Lotto first division at the weekend.
The prize was claimed by a syndicate, called "Three Greedy Old Men and a Pretty Princess".
They arrived in Wellington this morning to claim the prize.
"We have been playing the same numbers for about seven years, so we could not believe it when they finally all came up on Saturday night," they said.
Syndicate member "Pretty Princess", who bought the ticket, watched the draw live on Saturday night.
"I got on the phone straight away to the other members to share the good news. It is just such good timing, with us all about to lose our jobs," she said.
They said they planned to pay of mortgages, upgrade car, travel and semi-retire with the money.
In April, Fisher & Paykel Appliances said was shifting its Mosgiel production line offshore so it could take advantage of low-cost labour, and 430 workers would lose their jobs.
