The women'sdivision one semifinals will be played tomorrow at the Trust House Clareville Hockey complex.
Top seed Dalefield are up against fourth seed Red Star at 1.15pm.
The Dalefield ranks have been boosted by players who would have fielded for the premier side had that team not folded. That factor was evident in the first round of games, when double figure tallies were recorded against weaker opponents.
The season's competition looked to be done and dusted by the end of that round.
The other teams thought otherwise and through the second and third rounds Dalefield found the yawning gap closing spectacularly, down to single and two goal margins in fact.
Red Star was the first team to defeat the powerful Dalefield line-up. East Coast then followed suit, although that match was "voided" after an issue over player registration.
These results showed, however, that Dalefield weren't invincible and Red Star will certainly have that in the back of their minds when the two teams square up tomorrow.
Key players for Red Star are Paula Thompson, Kate Barnes and Chrissy McKinstry. Ana Playle remains the mainstay for Dalefield and is sure to play an influential part in proceedings. Others who should feature include Abby Hill, Lisa-Marie Ireland and Ashleigh Marfell, while captain Tania Scott is guaranteed to be heard leading her side from the rear guard.
The second game between second seed Featherston and third seed East Coast begins at 2.45pm and promises to be a close affair.
The two sides have already met three times this season. As things stand, Featherston have the wood over East Coast, having won two of the earlier encounters and drawing the third.
Featherston were beaten finalists last season and will want to go the whole way this year. They have pushed Dalefield hard for top spot this season, so will be a force to be reckoned with.
Featherston will rely on captain Tracey Donald to lead their challenge and it will be interesting to see if she plays the pivotal centre half position or uses her devastating goal scoring ability as a striker.
Others players to feature should include Kate Horsbrugh, goalie Sharon Gates and fullback Kath Saxton.
