Red Star picked up their second trophy of the season when they beat Lansdowne by 23 runs in the final of the Wairarapa Cricket Association's The Rock Twenty20 senior men's cricket competition at Queen Elizabeth Park oval on Sunday.
The victory followed hard on the heels of Red Star's victory over Wairarapa College in the Umpires Cup limited-overs final and they came close to winning all three trophies at stake in senior cricket in 2012-13, having lost the Bidwill Cup two-day final narrowly to Lansdowne after having won all their qualifying round matches outright.
Batting first on Sunday Red Star got off to a good start with openers Harry Clinton-Baker and Joe Hull putting on 39 runs for the first wicket. Clinton-Baker was eventually out for 43 made off 46 balls and including three 4s while Hull's 24 came off 19 balls and included four 4s. As it happened, their contributions were vital to the end result as only one other Red Star batsman made it into double figures and their 20 overs ended with the score at 127-9.
Bowling for Lansdowne, Alex Treseder finished with the excellent figures of 5-23.
