KEY POINTS:
General Motors will use recycled car factory waste to make noise-deadening material for its new cars from 2010, starting with the Buick LaCrosse luxury car.
GM's Indiana plant will be the first to use the new process, which turns waste cardboard into headliners that cut cabin noise.
As well as reducing landfill, the new material is cheaper than that currently being used.
