Interislander ferries will carry nearly 8000 passengers - a record - across Cook Strait on Friday.
Toll spokeswoman Sue Foley said today that many sailings from Thursday and Saturday were fully booked, with most people heading from Wellington to Picton for the Christmas break.
She urged passengers to check in early to ensure smooth loadings, and said entertainment would be provided for children on board.
