Records were tumbling at the Goodwood Revival motoring event last weekend - not only was the attendance record smashed with 146,000 visitors, but Goodwood's long-time auction partner Bonhams achieved its best-ever sale result.
Bonham's auctions between the Revival auction of collector cars and memorabilia and the Festival of Speed racked up a staggering £36.6 million ($71.7 million).
Highlights of the Bonhams mid-September Revival sale included the gavel falling at over £2.8 million for the totally original, unrestored 1928 Mercedes-Benz 36/220 6.8-litre, owned by the same family since new.
A fine collection of early Maseratis achieved £2.88 million, while the ex-Works 1939 Lagonda V12 Le Mans team car realised almost £1.3 million, a record for the marque.
The much-talked about full-scale Aston Martin DBR1 'Airfix' kit was one of the most photographed attractions at the 2012 Goodwood Revival, with this unique artwork selling for £27,500.
