Several Regency and Sunbeam Ralta electric blankets are being recalled as they are a fire hazard.
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs has issued a recall for Regency model numbers BA442R, BA445R, BA447R and Ralta models BA201, BA203, and BA208. The affected models can be identified by the part number BL0215, molded on the back of the detachable controller.
The ministry said the electrical cord may fatigue in the area of the detachable connector, resulting in a potential short circuit and fire hazard.
The Regency electric blankets were sold at Farmers and the Ralta blankets were sold nationwide, between 2010 and 2012.
There have been no reported injuries as a result of the fault.
