A Banks Peninsula Pub, closed down after being prosecuted for breaches of the Smoke Free Amendment Act, is reopening.
The Wheatsheaf Tavern closed its doors after its then manager, John Van Buren, ran foul of laws preventing patrons from smoking in bars. The court case against him later fell over after he went into receivership to avoid prosecution.
However the Wheatsheaf Tavern, which has been closed through much of the drama, is now under new ownership and management.
It is due to reopen this Thursday.
