A dance track has been created using a grumble from Newstalk ZB host Leighton Smith about an evening in Auckland's party district.
DJ James O'Rourke, who plays as James Ohh, created the track after being sent a recording of Smith complaining about loud music in the city centre.
O'Rourke, 24, said Smith told listeners of being unable to sleep because of noise while staying in a central city hotel. He rose to walk around town, winding up outside a noisy bar near Vulcan Lane.
The track used segments of Smith's monologue, mixed with music, including the radio host's growl about a club where "the music was pumping and the DJ was screaming".
"Being a DJ myself," said O'Rourke, "I've never screamed."
O'Rourke said he would expect Smith - who he described as "a grumpy old man" - to have a different taste in music but would send him a copy of the track.
Rave set to Smith's ranting
