Versatility was the key to success in the Wairarapa secondary schools adventure race at the Beetham family's High Cliff property in Wainuioru.
The course included challenging mountainbike, running and kayaking legs, as well as some mystery events which tested teamwork and accuracy.
One of the tasks involved a darts competition, while another required contestants to saw through a log of wood using a doubled-ended saw loaned by Tuatahi Racing Saws in Solway.
First home and overall winners were a Rathkeale College quartet operating under the name of Dymcarmond _ Michael Hammond, Phillip Arkell, Josh McKay and Fraser Dymond. They finished in 1 hour 53 minutes and with a points total of 536.
In second place were the Krakajacs, a Wairarapa College team comprising Joel Farley, Ben Ravenwood, Roydon McDermott and Jack Cotton. They clocked 2hrs 15mins and scored 481 points.
