Rathkeale College scored a commanding innings and 27-run victory over Wairarapa College in their McBride-Peterson Cup first XI cricket match at Wairarapa College on Saturday.
It was Zac Caldwell who held centre stage when Rathkeale batted first, scoring 133 of their 252. He faced 154 balls and struck 21 fours after coming to the wicket with his team in dire straits at 33-4. Ryan Tonkin gave Caldwell solid support late in the innings, making 29 off 38 balls.
Spearheading the Wairarapa College attack were Stefan Hook, who took 4-48 off 14 overs, and Jack Wakeling, who took 3-64 off 13 overs.
Wairarapa College were all out for 140 in their first innings with only Tim Griffith, who made 60 off 89 balls including 10 fours, and Hamish Finlayson (29) getting among the runs.
