The Rathkeale College 1st XI cricket team recently undertook a tour of the South Island.
The 12 day tour involved 9 days of cricket, and with no play lost through wet weather, it proved to be both tiring and challenging.
Six days were spent in Christchurch where the team played one day matches against Christs College, St Andrews College and a two day match against Christchurch Boys High School. They also visited the High Performance Centre at Lincoln where the team was able to have exclusive use of the training facilities.
From there the team went to Blenheim to participate in their annual quadrangular tournament involving matches against Scots College and Hutt International Boys School both from Wellington. The final match was a three day match against the powerful Marlborough Boys College team.
As the tour progressed the team developed very well and as the results suggest the team went from strength to strength.

Left with 97 to win the game outright Marlborough batted cautiously to reach 57 ? 4 before an outstanding fielding and bowling effort saw them succumb for just 62.
