Rare footage of taggers operating in daylight before being busted by police has emerged.
Dunedin police were called to the scene underneath the Caversham bypass motorway bridge on Barnes Drive, by a member of the public just before 2.30pm on Thursday.
One male armed with a white spray can and carrying a black bag, is shown tagging large letters on a wall before crossing the train tracks to join his accomplice who is involved in similar activity on the opposite wall. The pair then walk away.
James Gunn who filmed the rare footage said he witnessed the men, who he described as scruffy and in their mid-20s, tagging several areas under the bridge with the letters "D E P R".
"Just as they started to walk off the cop came around the corner. They looked like they were about to do a runner, one started jogging. The cop sped around the corner and caught up to them."
