A foal is turning heads not because of its lineage but for its rare white colour.
The white filly was born yesterday at the Windsor Park Stud at Cambridge.
In racing parlance, it is by High Chaparral out of The Opera House by Zabeel.
Windsor Park Stud general manager Steve Till said horses of dominant white colour were "not a common occurrence at all".
"It's very unusual in horses because it's a rarer mutation in terms of colour.
"We have had a stud here for 40 years and foaled many thousands of foals over that time and this is the first white foal we have had."
Mr Till said the foal had a good pedigree and came from a champion sire.
"She has the genetic profile to hopefully excel on the racetrack and then carry on her bloodlines when she goes to stud."
