A New Zealand passenger on a cruise ship has accused an Australian man of raping her on a Pacific voyage on New Year's Eve.
Radio Australia reports that French police were called to the Pacific Dawn cruise ship during a stopover in Lifou Island, in New Caldedonia's Loyalty Islands group.
The 46-year-old female tourist was found in a state of shock and suffering bruises in the early hours of the morning.
The woman said an Australian passenger had raped her while she was sleeping in her cabin.
