Rave A huge thank you to the four guys and one woman who helped my husband and I get our boat off the sandbar at the Takapuna boat ramp. What should havetaken us 10 minutes to retrieve our boat ended up taking about an hour and without their help we would have been stuck there for three hours while the tide went out and came back in again. We so appreciated their willingness to jump in and get wet to help us.

Rant Instead of pushing the container port out into our beautiful harbour, why not demolish tiny Marsden Wharf and pull the ships further in. It makes sense surely.
Rave Sincere thanks to whoever had the initiative to pick up my car keys that had fallen from my pocket on Monday in Mt Eden and then hand them in to the nice people at Olaf's Cafe & Bakery. I hope you had a wonderful day. Your actions certainly improved mine.

Rant To the cab driver who pulled over and relieved himself on our front lawn on Saturday night. You can rely on the fact that I will never use your cab company and will advise others to do the same.
Rave Excellent to see Greenlane Hospital has gone "green" and has provided a receptacle for rubbish and recycling outside the main waiting room in Building 4, ground floor. Others could take a leaf out of this excellent service.

Rant Why are the lights at the Esmonde Rd on-ramp so bad? Every morning there is a backup of traffic for sometimes 1km and it lasts until well past 9am (when the lights are not working there is no traffic backup). Even worse, those drivers who don't think the law applies to them cheat by travelling down the "bus lane only" and bypassing hundreds of us schmucks who behave. They seem to be secure in the fact that they will never be caught because it never seems to be policed. Maybe it's time to put a camera up.
