On March 25 I posted from the Howick Post Office two letters in pre-paid envelopes - one to Hamilton and the other to Belmont in Auckland. The letter to Hamilton arrived in three days; the one to Belmont, as at April 12, had not arrived. What has happened toour, what used to be, very efficient postal system?

On Friday, while I was away from home all day, the recycling truck knocked my rubbish bag on to the road as it emptied my bin. It then ran over and split my bag, and the contents were strewn and squashed all down the street. A huge thank you to the unknown neighbour who cleaned up the horrid mess.
Living in a small east coast community, speeding drivers are my rant. There is a 70 sign if travelling north or south but 80 per cent of drivers treat it as a 100km/h zone. Easter weekend was a nightmare. The signs need to be much bigger or this area patrolled, which it isn't. The "early bird" drivers are the worst!
A big thank you to the delightful young men on the 1.58pm train to Pukekohe on Thursday who helped my friend with her stroller on to the train at Newmarket. All done with a big smile and then, when we went to get off at Ellerslie, several of you leaped to your feet to help again. You bought big smiles to the elderly couple sitting in the same carriage and gave my friend and I a warm heart with the help you gave us.

Why do NZ street signs say No Exit? Is it like the Hotel California - once you enter, you can never leave?

I wonder how many people have seen the amazing War Memorial at Manukau Gardens Cemetery. Not many I imagine. It's well worth going to see.
