What is it, New Zealand, with slow drivers who sit in the right-hand lane on motorways and won't move to the left when there is traffic behind them trying to get past? In Britain, all traffic on motorways must keep to the left lanes unless passing, and the police strictly enforce this. Why doesn't New Zealand introduce the same road rule?

A big thank-you to the people in Paeroa who came to my aid when I had a car accident on State Highway 2 recently. Thanks to Leanne, who stopped to see if I was okay, to Mike and Rob of Paeroa Smash Repairs, who got me sorted out and on my way back to Auckland, and to the very efficient and helpful Constable Ross.

While I was waiting for my mum to arrive from her trip to the supermarket, two cars without any permits pulled up and parked in the disabled parks. There were plenty of other car parks, all within close walking distance of the supermarket.

I'd like to give a thumbs-up to the lovely runner, Brittany, who grabbed a golden retriever in Long Bay a couple of weeks ago and waved me down so I could call the owner to let them know their dog had escaped from their backyard. Brittany, we need more people like you who are willing to stop what they are doing to help someone else. To the owner and their son who came to pick the dog up - remember, a thank-you goes a long way to those who helped you out.
