I am tired of seeing young hoons thinking it's a good idea to drive around the fence in Hannahs Bay, Rotorua, to get on to the reserve where cars are not supposed to go. It has happened three times in six months. They always get stuck on the sand and then rip the palings off our fence to wedge under their stuck car. Please use your brain.

Great service from the boss of Ohaupo Motors, south of Hamilton, who interrupted his job on Wednesday to fix a nagging noise which was blighting our road trip. He did it fast and for nothing - thank you so much!

I have had enough of the noisy planes flying to and from Great Barrier Island, up to 20-plus flights a day. I live in Glendowie and they often fly right over my roof so low they vibrate my house as well as my ears. They are slow, low and it can be up to two minutes before their noise disappears. It's noise pollution at its utmost - invasive and unfair.

Many thanks to the kind Aucklanders who helped us out on the Hump Ridge Track in the South Island. As we arranged to have our heavy pack helicoptered out on the final day they overheard us and offered to split the "heavy part"of our load. A kind, caring group of Aucklanders helping fellow travellers in need. Nice.
